Student-consultant groups will develop detailed marketing strategy recommendations for your organization to assist management in overcoming a particular challenge.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Phase 1 – Project Plan: Students will attend your challenge or opportunity pitch to understand your business needs, devise the project scope, and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.

Phase 2 – Project Execution: Students will work on deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.

Phase 3 - Outcome - Presentation: Students will present the outcomes of their research and analysis to make recommendations for your organization. Organization representative(s) are invited to attend these presentations.

Project Examples

Requirements

Starting this February, a full class of student-consultants will work in groups of five, spending 450 collective hours developing marketing recommendations for your organization.

Based on a marketing opportunity or challenge that you present to the class, groups will identify the foundational elements of your organization and customer target, then apply core marketing principles to make effective recommendations.

Example projects include, but are not limited to:

  • How to attract new customers from a particular demographic.
  • How to use marketing to retain existing customers.
  • How to leverage social media channels to reach different customer groups.
